UAQ launches its volunteering program For Special Olympics Host Cities


The National Organizing Committee of Special Olympics in Umm Al Quwain, in cooperation with Emirates Canadian University College, has announced that the list of contributors in championship voluntary program is now open. This program aims to ensure success of the championship which will be held in March under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE's Armed Forces.
The Local Committee of Host Cities seeks to attract more than 100 volunteers and train them to carry out many tasks and responsibilities during the preparations and events of the global event taking place in the UAE.
Miss Meera Al-Mehrazi, Chairperson of the Local Committee, displayed a presentation to the students of Emirates Canadian University College about Special Olympics , the Volunteer Program, how to register in the program ,  and the expected benefit of  participating in this big  event to develop the participants’ skills and experience, highlighting the big support of Alia Al Ghafli, Director-General of the Department of Tourism and Antiquities, Chairperson of the Olympic Steering Committee in Umm Al Quwain, for her constant interest in involving all community categories in organizing and participating in programs and events affiliated with the global Event.
Al Mahrazi reviewed the Emirati Special Olympics history and its great performance, which added more excitement to the audience, and giving the contributors a big opportunity to be involved in making the history and shifting people's perspective of people of determination.
She stressed the need for attending the three days event in various locations in Umm Al Quwain.
Volunteers will also be required to attend a training program prior launching the World Games.
ECUC students have shown their willingness to participate in this important international event that enhance UAE's position among other countries.
