“ECUC celebrates the International Day of Older Persons”

In gratitude to the elderly population who served the community  wholeheartedly, and in order to enhance the  pleasure and confidence in their hearts, Emirates Canadian University College in Umm Al Quwain celebrated the International Day of Older Persons at the Elderly Nursing Home in Ajman.
This celebration, which included some heritage and entertainment sessions in addition to distributing the souvenirs, reflects the college's keenness to participate in various community events and to highlight its active role in society.
Hamda Al Shamsi, Director of Elderly Nursing Home in Ajman, expressed her thanks and appreciation to the organizers and supervisors of this humanitarian event which aimed to brighten up the residents' surroundings. Al Shamsi encouraged the college students to respect and care for their parents through their participation in such activities.
Dr. Galal Hatem, President of the College, said that the UAE is mobilizing its resources, and public and community institutions in the service and care of the elderly through creating the proper centers for them, providing adequate care homes and doubling the material and moral assistance that guarantees a happy life in the country which works hard for providing happiness to all its citizens.
He said that the International Day of old persons is an important social event celebrated by the country on the first day of October aims to raise awareness among all categories of society about the aging stage. This day is considered as a day of thanks and appreciation for this age for their contributions to cultural construction and mutual giving between the nation and its residents.
